Kim Hjelmgaard is a Danish-American journalist based in London. Since 2012, he has been an international editor and correspondent for USA TODAY, reporting widely across Europe and the Middle East. Prior to that, he worked for the Wall Street Journal digital network, as an editor and writer.

 

In 2018, he was an East-West Center journalism fellow. He holds a bachelors degree in English and Philosophy and a masters degree in English from the University of St. Andrews. He previously worked as a book publishing editor.

He spent a large portion of his youth living aboard a 48-foot sailboat, traveling with his family throughout Europe, the Caribbean, the Americas and beyond.
